Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Order Of Events

Her Majesty will be celebrating 70 years on the throne with lavish celebrations that will echo throughout the entire United Kingdom. Starting from February 6 (Accession Day), there will be a string of activities and events culminating with a four-day bank holiday taking place in the first week of June. Here’s how the “once-in-a-generation” celebration will unfold.

Celebrations Leading Up To The Massive June Weekend Events

Last year, Her Majesty’s Green Canopy, an initiative that saw the planting and tracking of thousands of trees, was launched.

Following the launch of the Green Canopy initiative, the Superbloom was announced. The Superbloom saw the planting of millions of flowers around the Tower of London. The flowers are expected to bloom by August/September this year and will define the landscape with beautiful designs, patterns and colors. It will be one of the lasting impacts of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

This year saw the announcement of the Platinum Jubilee contest open to 8-year-olds and over who are residents of the U.K. The contest seeks original recipes that can be easily prepared with the average kitchen materials to highlight the celebrations. The winner will be invited to be at the center of the Jubilee events and parties.

Applications closed On February 4th.

On Sunday, February 6, Her Majesty celebrated her 70th year since Accession to the throne as U.K.’s ruling monarch at Sandringham. And while this will be her first Jubilee celebrations without her husband Prince Philip by her side, Palace insiders revealed that the 95-year-old is looking forward to celebrating the historic milestone in good spirits.

From May 12-15, there will be more than 500 horses and 1,000 performers to create a 90-minute piece of arena theatre, including actors and artists, musicians, international military displays, dancers and global equestrian displays.

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations To Officially Kick Off With Trooping the Color

The Jubilee celebrations will officially kick off on Thursday, June 2 and will continue until Sunday, June 5.
On Thursday, more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together in the traditional parade to mark the Queen’s official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June.

The parade will include members of the royal family riding on horseback and in carriages. The Trooping the Color parade will also include a RAF show as they move from Buckingham Palace down to Horse Guard’s Parade, while the Queen watches on from her balcony.

Over 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the U.K., Channel islands, Isle of Man and U.K. Overseas Territories.
For the first time ever, beacons will also be lit in each of the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Principal beacon will be lit in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The following Friday, a service of thanksgiving to commemorate the Queen’s reign will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral. More details regarding the service are yet to be announced.

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, the Queen and Royal Family will watch the horse races taking place at Epsom Downs. This will be followed by a special live concert of the “world’s biggest entertainment stars” broadcast live on BBC from Buckingham Palace. Audience tickets will be available via ballot, released this February.

The Big Lunch will be taking place on Sunday. Brits and its residents are encouraged to come together for the community launch. Think snacks, tea, cakes and anything you’d like to celebrate with. The four-day holiday will come to a happy ending with the Platinum Jubilee pageant that will see a mix of arts, artists, dancers and military personnel telling the story of Queen Elizabeth the II’s historic 70-year reign.

Along with these planned events, there will be numerous parties and events happening over the course of the four-day holiday.
