Okay, some people are now calling Harry “lawsuit friendly Harry”. Without waiting for the conclusion of his case against Home Office, he’s filed his second lawsuit. This is coming at a time when many believe that tensions between him and the Royal Family are easing.
Prince Harry’s Lawsuit Could Make Other Rich and Famous People Want To Upgrade Their Security Detail
In 2020, Prince Harry lost his state-funded police security and is now suing the Home Office in order to try to get it back. He has reportedly admitted to his willingness to privately pay in order to not burden the British Taxpayer, though reports say he is yet to make the offer officially.
Royal Family News – Arguing
Harry is arguing that his US security team do not have enough UK government intel to keep him, Meghan, son Archie and daughter Lilibet safe when they visit the country.
He recently won a major victory when a judge ruled for the case to proceed, but now he’s filing a second lawsuit against the same government department, with the Metropolitan Police listed as defendants, the High Court confirmed.
The second lawsuit will focus on a decision that individuals should not be able to privately pay to receive police protection.
A legal expert previously told Newsweek that Harry winning the lawsuit will open a can of worms where the rich and famous will struggle to upgrade their own security arrangements.
Amber Melville-Brown, of international law firm Withers, said: “Currently, state security is not available on a privately funded basis—but a change in the rules, if it applied to any ‘individual’ who did not justify private security, could theoretically enable those with the will and the wherewithal to pay privately for protection, leading to armed entourages accompanying them as they toured around the British Isles.”
Royal Family News – A New Lawsuit
The new lawsuit also signifies that Harry is not happy with his dealings with the Palace following his decision to step down as a senior royal. He also made it clear when he argued that members of the Royal Family shouldn’t be involved in his case to secure police security.
This is coming at a time when royal commentators are suggesting that Harry is reeling in his act in order to get into the good graces of the rest of the Royal Family, with journalist Richard Kay – a former friend of Princess Diana – telling the Royal Beat: “Since [January], there has been a measure of a rapprochement. We saw it at the Jubilee, there was a bit of an attempt by Harry to sort of wind it down a bit.”
But it seems that the opposite is the case and Harry is willing to battle it out with the UK government and the Royal Family.
