Prince Harry’s latest interview is still provoking a reaction from royal fans. In an opinion piece published by Express U.K., royal commentator Carole Malone tagged the pre-recorded interview as “treachery” to the Monarchy.
But more than his mention of having a special bond with the Queen, it was the way that the 37-year-old kept name-dropping his late mother into almost every interview he’s done lately that Ms. Malone felt like pointing out.
Royal Commentator Calls Harry’s Claim Princess Diana is Now “Sorting Him Out” “Fanciful Bunkum”
Writing for Express U.K., Carole Malone called out Harry for using his mother for promotional purposes, especially as he’s previously blasted outlets for exploiting his late mother’s image for their financial benefits.
“I feel her presence in almost everything I do,” the Prince said in his latest interview, going on to add that he’s felt her more in the past two years.
“Really Harry? Really? This is the bloke who’s spent years bleating about how the media exploited Princess Diana,” Ms. Malone wrote. “So what is he doing now bringing her name into the mix at every opportunity? Clearly, he knows that without her he’s of no interest to anyone. Unless of course he is blabbing about the Queen or attacking his father and brother.
“He even had the audacity to say Diana had sorted Wills out and was now sorting him out,” Carole Malone noted, before quoting Harry, who said: “It’s as though she’s done her bit with my brother and now she’s very much helping me”.
“This is fanciful bunkum,” she added.
Carole Malone Tells Harry To “Do Better”
Speaking on how Harry dodged the question about missing his father and brother, Carole taunted him for previously preaching kindness, compassion and sacrifices, and how he refused to say a “kind word” about his father and brother when the time came for him to exercise his teachings.
“I think Harry’s visit to the Queen was just news fodder for NBC Today. He and Meghan know their royal connections are what feeds their brand.
“Without them, this pair are of no interest and, because contact with the royals has been virtually nonexistent these past two years, they had to renew it to titillate American interest in them.”
She concluded by saying that the Queen deserved so much more than being “juicy tidbits for an American news network”, which came just in time as she celebrated her 96th birthday.
“And if Harry’s relationship with her is as special as he says it is,” she added, “then the man who’s done monumental damage to the monarchy should be ashamed of betraying it.”
