Prince Harry And Meghan’s Private Meeting With Queen Deemed First Of Many Others To Come

According to royal commentator Katie Nicholl, the Sussexes’ visit to the Queen signifies a new era for the controversial couple. She also said that Harry is looking forward to mending the differences keeping him and his brother William apart.

In March 2021, Harry and Meghan sat down with American chat show host Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview that saw them telling their “truths” about their short time in the Royal Family as a married couple.

Since then, it’s been understood that relations between the Sussexes and senior members of the royal family have been strained. Prior to the Oprah interview, there’s been rumors of a rift between William and Harry, leading William to divide his household from his brother’s family. This reportedly took place at the height of the bullying claims against Harry’s wife Meghan.

The Sussex couple then went on Oprah a year after quitting royal life to label the royal family as a racist firm that does not care about the mental well-being of its members and values appearances more than anything.

It’s been more than a year since the claims made on Oprah and Harry is reportedly ready to mend his relationship with his brother, who is yet to meet 10-month-old Lilibet.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, Prince William not inviting Harry to important functions means that their relationship is definitely “tense” and “sticky”.

“Harry has come over to Europe. He’s made this detour to the U.K., very much wanting to meet with some of his family,” Katie Nicholl told ET. “He was very keen to see his grandmother, he was very keen to see his father and he is hoping that these talks will be the beginning of a thaw in what, up until now, has been a very icy relationship.”

When Harry and Meghan dropped in the U.K. to see the Queen at Windsor, Prince William and his family were away on a skiing vacation. However, it did not stop Harry from continuing the peace talks with the rest of the family.

“For the meeting with the queen, it was just the queen, Meghan and Harry, and very few details of that meeting has been leaked,” Nicholl said. “I suspect it’s going stay quite watertight. I think the Sussexes really have to prove that they can be trusted now, and that they are now back in touch with the family. Harry has met with his father, and with Camilla [Parker-Bowles]. He’s now had a private meeting with him, Meghan, and the queen.”
