On American Idol, Katy Perry into an impromptu performance of her hit single “Teenage Dream”. She was having a good time getting the crowd to dance and sing along with her, until she ripped her pants.

Wardrobe malfunctions can happen even to the best of us, though I can’t vouch for it happening on stage when one is singing the no. 1 hit single “Teenage Dream”. But of course, we can’t all be Katy Perry.

Katy and fellow judges – Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan – were having fun singing when Katy went a tad overboard and wowed fans with a complex dance move that saw her shake her waist as she bent low. While she was able to pull off the move with grace, her red leather pants couldn’t take the strain and gave way.

“They busted,” Bryan, 45, yelled, while contestants laughed, pointing.

Even though it took Katy a few seconds to realize what went wrong and what all the commotion was about, she handled it with a straight face once she did.

“The concert is officially over!” Richie, 75, added.

“Can I get some tape?” Perry, 37, asked the crew before walking off stage.

Crew members, along with Bryan, rushed to cover up the gaping area with yellow tape, after which the singer casually walked back to her seat. What, did anything happen?

How Katy Perry’s Recent Split Pants Reminded Us Of 2018

Monday’s ripped pants isn’t the first wardrobe malfunction that Katy has endured while on the ABC singing competition show.

In 2018, the “Fireworks” singer used tape to fix a similar situation.

Moments after contestant Maddie Poppe finished her collaborative “Bubbly” performance with Colbie Caillat, Perry burst into a wild laughter that her tight silver jumpsuit just couldn’t handle. Her face dropped as she announced, “I just split my pants!”

To prove it, she turned around for the audience to catch a glimpse of it, while Richie, running in front of her, screamed “Save the Children.”

Katy asked a crew member to “tape my butt” before gently sitting down to prevent another mishap.
