With seven children dependent on her, Anna Duggar could have stayed at home during her husband Josh’s sentencing trial. And no one would have criticized her for that decision. But instead, the woman famous for standing by her man throughout his molestation, cheating, and now child porn scandals showed up and prayed for her husband to get freed However, though Anna and Josh’s mother Michelle have painted him as a victim, the court pointed to the evidence to issue a verdict.
Anna, 33, chose a blue frock to attend her husband’s child pornography sentencing trial, reported Us magazine. And she showed her support throughout the hearing. However, as in previous trials, Anna has remained stoic, avoiding public statements while she awaited to hear the verdict.
But when the news came that Josh would spend more than 12 years in jail, Anna could no longer hold back her emotions, noted the Sun. The reality TV star rushed out of the courtroom, trying not to cry in public. But her reaction, coming after months of waiting to hear what would happen to Josh, may also have resulted from the judge’s comments about Anna’s husband.
As Anna listened in the courtroom, the judge read the verdict on Josh’s child pornography evidence. That verdict followed Josh’s pleas to limit his sentence to 60 months. But the judge slapped him with 151 months (more than 12 years) behind bars.
And in ordering the former “19 Kids And Counting” star to pay $50,000 in fines, the judge also described Josh’s crimes as “the sickest of the sick.” In addition, the judge addressed Josh’s claim that he remains innocent. “I find it aggravating about the lack of responsibility,” noted the judge.
In addition to Anna, Josh’s father Jim Bob, sister Joy-Anna, and brothers Jason and James attended the court hearing. The lengthy prison stay will not end Josh’s sentence. The father of seven will then undergo 20 additional years of probation. And he must remain supervised throughout any visits with children. In addition, Josh cannot have a computer. Overall, the news of the verdict caused Anna to rush from the courtroom, noted observers.
