Duggar Family news reveals that, according to Café Mom, new court documents reveal more about the raid on Josh Duggar’s car lot back in 2019. The 19 Kids and Counting alum’s legal team filed new papers this week accusing federal agents of unfair restraint of the former TLC personality during the raid they carried out on his car lot.

The legal team, who filed the paperwork Tuesday, appealing Duggar’s conviction for receiving and possessing child pornography, is also claiming that Duggar was prevented from contacting his attorney during interrogation as the raid progressed. The New York Post reports that Duggar is actually seeking a new trial. The disgraced 19 Kids and Counting star was sentenced to 12 and a half years in federal prison in May.

The court documents claim that Homeland Security already had surveillance of the Duggar car lot and that agents were waiting for him to show up that November 2019, in order to carry out the search “when there was no reason [the lot’s] owner had to be present.”

Once the former reality TV star arrived at the lot, he was allegedly “surrounded by armed agents wearing ballistic vests, and without access to a vehicle. [Duggar] attempted to call his attorney only to have his phone physically taken and was told his attorney would not be allowed on the scene,” according to the extensive 34-page filing. Duggar’s attorneys have been contacted for comment.

The documents further allege that Duggar was placed in a car with two armed agents. “This court should conclude a reasonable person in Duggar’s position would have felt ‘deprived of his freedom of action in any significant way,’” the filing asserts.

Duggar Family News – Restraint Is About More Than Handcuffs

The paperwork adds, “the government also contends Duggar was not restrained, but restraint is about more than being handcuffed.” The legal team refuted the government’s argument that he was told he could leave the scene, saying he had no means by which to leave.
