Jim Bob Duggar, his daughter Jill, and son Josh joined the rest of the Duggars in soaring to fame on “19 Kids And Counting.” And for many reality TV viewers, the clan represented the perfect family. But then came the allegations that Josh had molested five underage girls as a teen, including some of his sisters. As a result, many of the sisters, including Jill Duggar, talked to the media about the scandal.
But in the wake of a trial linked to the child molestation scandal, fans have become divided. And some have even slammed Jill for avoiding attacking Josh. But a new report claims that her father Jim Bob Duggar “forced” her to participate in those media interviews. Get the details below.
Jill Duggar And Sisters Lose Court Case
Five years ago, Jessa, Joy-Anna, Jinger, and Jill Duggar teamed up to file a lawsuit linked to Josh Duggar, per the Hollywood Gossip. In their lawsuit, the sisters claimed that Arkansas police violated their rights in releasing Josh’s police records. As a result of that release, the four sisters molested by Josh faced constant media scrutiny.
But the police responded by stating that they had followed through with a Freedom of Information Act request. And just prior to the settlement hearing, the judge dismissed the case. But fans have divided in their reactions. For instance, some believe that the Duggar sisters should have focused on Josh, who molested them, and their parents, who sought to hide his crimes.
And other fans alleged that the sisters seemed hypocritical in their case. That hypocrisy stems from the belief that all four profited by giving interviews to the media, including Fox News. Their parents, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, also talked with the press in several different interviews.
Derick Dillard Defends Jill Duggar
The battle between the fans and the Duggar sisters played out on social media. For instance, one fan tweeted at Derick Dillard about Jill. “The problem comes when you get on with Megyn Kelly and get paid for an interview about the situation you think was smeared,” slammed the critic. And another chimed in, “These people will do anything for the privilege and the cash.”
But Derick responded in a defense of Jill. “Please don’t comment about things you know nothing about,” Dillard requested. “We were not paid a single cent,” he added. And he indicated that Jim Bob pushed the sisters to participate, calling “the whole ordeal borderline duress/coercion.”
In addition, Derick hinted that Jim Bob had taken the profit from “19 Kids And Counting” rather than share with his children. “We weren’t even being paid for the show that we had to film tens of hours per week for, so what makes you think we would have received any pay or perks from this?” questioned Dillard. “The opposite is true, it’s devastating. So think before you speak.”
