At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) confronts Drew about his feelings for Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). But she’s also concerned about what happened between him and Carly at the Quartermaine boathouse after being questioned by police about the attack on Ava Cassadine (Maura West). Unfortunately for Drew, it’s practically common knowledge that he at one time was programmed to be Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) secret weapon and there’s talk about Victor having problems with Ava.
Brook Lynn tells Drew that they’re going to think he has something to hide, possibly because he and Carly had been the last ones known to have been in the boathouse. But he and Carly had cleared out long before Ava was attacked on the deck by an unknown assailant.
Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) talk and discuss their issues, Finn asking her how he can make this right. Elizabeth had given him explicit instructions not to talk to anyone about her flashback issues, in particular her parents and family. Yet, he took it upon himself to put a call in to her sister, Dr. Sarah Webber (most recently Sarah Laine) trying to get to the root of Elizabeth’s problems. If looks could kill, Finn would already be dead on the floor from the daggers Elizabeth is shooting from her eyes. It doesn’t look like this is going to be a productive conversation.
It looks like Nikolas has possibly made it from the Quartermaine estate to General Hospital and Port Charles Police Commissioner Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) stops him. She means serious business with the Cassadine as she wants to know why he’s so resistant to providing answers. Perhaps it’s just that Nikolas wants to get to where Ava is quickly, since her life is in jeopardy and he’d rather not be interrupted.
Ava is clinging to life in the intensive care unit, likely rushed into immediate surgery after being brought in by Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). Ava had bled out so much time was of the essence and they couldn’t wait for paramedics to arrive.
More Cassadine interrogations take place in the aftermath of Ava’s attack as Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) interrogate each other. But first they talk about Nikolas, as Victor says to a bleary eyed Spencer fresh off a bender that maybe “he’s” the one they should be looking to protect. Nikolas was pretty angry at Ava for spilling the tea about him sleeping with Esmé Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) right as Spencer walked in on them arguing. Although it’s debatable that she wanted Spencer to hear her, Nikolas looks at it that she should have kept her mouth shut anyway. After all, they were in the Quartermaine house, not their own, who knows who might have walked in?
Trina looks worried and upset, and it’s totally understandable as Josslyn informs her something happened to Ava; it was Josslyn who found her on the deck of the boathouse. If she hadn’t, Ava would likely be dead, having lost so much blood and she apparently was there for at least an hour. Ava is Trina’s mentor and her friend, her employer at the Jerome Gallery and like a second mother.
Trina will worry as she waits for news on Ava’s condition, as all of her friends and family will while she’s in surgery at GH. No doubt Trina and Josslyn have some ideas as to who her assailant might have been.
Carly is probably talking to Drew about their near naked romp in the boathouse, as the grill caught on fire out on the deck. They’ve been tossing the idea around about moving forward with a romantic relationship, and that’s probably what she says she’s been thinking a lot about too. At least it’s a distraction from the morbidity of Ava’s attack and Josslyn’s harrowing ordeal finding her in that condition. Carly will comfort her daughter over her ordeal also in this episode.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) will comfort Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) as they also wait at GH on word if Ava’s going to pull through. Sonny is with Nina as he tells someone else he guesses neither one of them is going to get what they want. Dex had been on the way to Sonny with some papers but was delayed due to helping Josslyn get Ava to the hospital.
Perhaps the delayed papers are what Sonny is referring to, since it’s doubtful they’ve been delivered or signed due to the extenuating circumstances. Sonny shares a daughter with Ava, so for sure he’s worried about her survival as well.
