Trina needs a miracle to exonerate her from the very serious charges she’s facing, thanks to Esmé Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) frame-up. So far, the smoking gun that would prove Esmé guilty and Trina innocent hasn’t been found, with Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Arden’s (Jennifer Field) focus on proving Trina guilty. Attorney Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) says she has some tricks up her sleeve, and Team Trina hopes they will be treats.
Tabyana Ali notes in Soap Opera Digest that Trina feels pretty discouraged, and it seems everything her family taught her and she’s done for herself is being taken away. This lie that has been perpetrated and for all intents and purposes, proven to the ADA is becoming very discouraging to Trina about her future.
Trina is surprised to see Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) step up to the stand, and wonders if he’s changed his mind about being her alibi. Trina had been advised to tell the truth about seeing him in the cemetery at the exact time the revenge porn was uploaded to the Port Charles University server.
But she refused, not wanting him to have to go back to Pentonville Prison since at the time, he was near his short sentence at Spring Ridge. She fears that he believes she is guilty and thinks he’s still involved with Esmé, but they are broken up irrevocably. But he doesn’t give Trina an alibi, although he doesn’t give Esmé one either-something Diane feels like they can use.
According to General Hospital spoilers, Trina does get her hope back when Diane says they can use what Spencer didn’t say to their advantage. Trina is much more ready to keep fighting for her freedom, and it’s like the fire that’s gone out in her is reignited. She realizes even if it seems they’ve lost a couple of battles, it doesn’t mean that they’ve lost the whole war.
Trina again can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and even though it could turn out to be an oncoming train, she’s hopeful. As long as there isn’t a bridge out at the end of the tunnel, there’s still a way to win, and if nothing else, there has to be a detour.
The trial, however, is near an end as the prosecution rests their case and Trina prepares to take the stand in her own defense. Much of the evidence is circumstantial, but they cannot find anything disproving it. That has been the whole problem all along. Trina counts on her family, her best friend Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Officer Rory Cabrera’s (Michael Blake Kruse) support when she’s on the stand. But then a surprise witness emerges; and a very unexpected one; does Trina get an unexpected save?
