It’s the morning of Trina Robinson’s (Tabayana Ali) trial, and Curtis and Marshall Ashford (Donnell Turner, Robert Gossett) are still chasing down last-minute leads that could make all the difference in her case. Previously, Marshall’s contact had tracked down the name and address of the bartender at the Highsider Bar, but he’d disappeared with no trace.
Curtis’ contact emailed him with a list of known associates of the bartender that Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews) would help track down. Marshall insisted on helping, and now as they’re looking he’s excited, and can feel it knocking; the lead that will exonerate Trina.
Prior to Trina’s trial, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) try to encourage Trina, and Ava encourages her to tell them about that evidence! Trina does have an alibi that she has been hesitant to use, fearing she would get Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) in trouble. She had seen Spencer at the Port Charles Cemetery, putting flowers on his mother’s grave at the same time the revenge porn video had been uploaded to the internet. But Spencer had not yet been released from Spring Ridge, and Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) had arranged for a “field trip”; Trina worries he’ll be sent back to Pentonville. Later, Josslyn will encourage her to use that information to save herself.
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) asks if there’s a reason for concern, as she and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) support Trina in making a big decision, along with Joss. There does appear to be a last minute change of attorney, as Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) is nowhere to be seen, but Trina’s fully covered there. Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) has stepped in as his last minute replacement, and she is in very capable hands.
Of course, facing these charges as Trina is, there is always a reason for concern, because it is a very serious situation. Laura’s motherly support should help a lot and perhaps she’s the one who was able to get Diane to defend her.
Victor confronts an angry Valentin Cassadine, (James Patrick Stuart) who purposely failed to assassinate Laura by poisoning her iced tea. Victor has been blackmailing Valentin to do his bidding, using Valentin’s daughter Charlotte Cassadine (Amelie McClain) to do it. Valentin had threatened to cut Victor’s throat if any harm came to Charlotte, and when Victor warns him he’s taken matters into his own hands he may regret his intentional failure. Viewers can assume that Victor still has a target on Laura’s back but he has a different plan to carry it out. There is a good chance that he will lure Laura into a trap.
Meanwhile, Spencer has his own little Cassadine plot that he is beginning to carry out as he tells a beaming Esmé Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) something’s going to rock her world. Spencer and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) had managed to get DNA from Carly Corinthos (Eden McCoy) and Josslyn recently, which Spencer was using to fake a DNA test. The story he spins is that Victor found a Esmé’s birth mother in Portugal, and he’s basically doing the same thing Valentin did a few years back.
Valentin, to “prove” Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) was Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) daughter, took DNA from Nina and Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) to make the DNA test match. Spencer is doing the same thing with Carly and Joss’s to prove that the fictitious woman in Portugal and Esmé are a match.
