Spinelli’s been involved in some pretty shady situations lately, and he’s been seen in some dangerous company; all his friends are worried because he’s not acting or dressing like himself. Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) recently saw him arguing with a man he said was a bill collector when she asked him, and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) was with her. If they’d have gotten any louder security may have been called, they were at the Metro Court at the time.
Then there is the strange situation he’s in with the matchmaker Zelda Telesco ( Kristin Carey); Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) caught him coming in and out of her room. Spinelli may have developed the software and programs for Society Setups but it looks like he’s into something shady; Cody seems to know what it is and he’s keeping tightlipped.
Maxie thought Spinelli was stalking her because no matter where she is, he seems to be close by; she thought perhaps he was jealous of her moving on. Spinelli and Maxie haven’t been together in a very long time, however, and the time he tried to fight Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) for her was long ago. It was before he met the woman he thought was his perfect match, Ellie Trout (Emily Wilson) and they were together for a good ten years in Seattle before their breakup.
Maxie and Spinelli now can co-parent their daughter together, Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) now that they are back living in Port Charles, but lately she’s been living with Maxie fulltime. Maxie knows there’s something strange going on with Spin and so do the rest of his friends; finally he confesses he’s in over his head with something.
Spin admits he’s in over his head with something, but isn’t real forthcoming with details when Maxie asks him for them; he tells her it’s best she doesn’t know. That, of course, gets Maxie’s brain spinning trying to figure out what her baby daddy number one has gotten himself into, and asks if her father can help. Of course, her father is Port Charles Chief of Detectives Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Spin’s reaction really scares her, when he makes her swear not to tell Mac.
Maxie wonders why – if he’s in trouble, the police can help him; he should already know that; but he won’t tell what’s going on to anyone. Even Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) knows something’s off and he can’t even get Spinelli to say what it is.
Maxie doesn’t just have police in her family, she also has retired WSB and she is really tempted to have Spinelli followed for his own protection. She worries he may have gotten in with a loan shark or something like that since he was observed arguing with what he called a “bill collector. Perhaps she should follow him herself – he can’t be in as much danger as she was when she was leading Peter August (Wes Ramsey) to his doom. Someone has to do something, she can’t just let Spinelli continue to be trapped in something he can’t get out of.
