As Willow continues to downward spiral into near depression over her cancer diagnosis, T.J. has grown concerned that she isn’t sharing her bad news with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). Still, T.J. is bound by laws that prevent him from telling anyone about Willow’s heath, just as Dr. Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) and Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) are.
Initially, T.J. just ran a few labs for Willow, who — at the time — was assuming she was just tired from her new job as a nurse. When the labs revealed she was pregnant, Willow was overjoyed, as was Michael. When follow-up lab work also showed Willow has leukemia, she decided to keep it to herself, just until the first trimester was over. She felt certain Michael would want her to seek treatment right away, and she wasn’t comfortable doing that with the baby on board and how high the risk of side effects and miscarriage were for the baby during that time of fetal development.
But Willow is now making her way out of the first trimester, and she’s still pushing pause on treatment — and still foregoing telling Michael the truth. T.J. tried briefly to caution her against keeping that secret and against delaying things any longer, but he abruptly stopped himself.
This is out of character for T.J. Normally, he can’t help himself but to do what he thinks is the right thing. In this case, instead of lecturing Willow about the need to treat her cancer, he said he was going to support her. Does supporting Willow only mean telling her what she wants to hear and never offering up a healthy dose of the truth? Once upon a time, T.J. went through some serious interpersonal difficulties with both his mother, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), and his domestic partner, Molly Lansing Davis (Haley Pullos). He had no problem telling them how he felt and what the thought they should have done in those instances. Why is Willow any different?
It looks like the roles will soon reverse for T.J. and Molly though — and she’ll be the one telling him what he should have done, in hindsight. Will that happen before T.J. and Willow venture into territory that is too hard to come back from? Are two couples about to be on the rocks all because Willow couldn’t confront her fears and tell Michael the truth about her illness?
Although Nina is the only person who has made any remark about T.J. and Willow’s growing closeness at GH, she cannot be the only one who has noticed. It’s unlikely that Nina will actually tell anyone what she thinks Willow is up to, but she may try to use Willow’s secretive relationship with T.J. as a way to blackmail her into letting her come around Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) again. That said, if anyone is going to start spreading the word about Willow and T.J ‘s encounters in the hallway, we think it’s likely to be the most obvious choice: nurse Amy Driscoll (Risa Dorken) — of course!
