General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that it’s time for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to be legally declared dead so that his family and friends can properly mourn through the cycle of grief, gain closure and get on with their lives in Port Charles, New York. Simple, easy peasy. Memorials like this are done everyday in America. But what if the service brings more questions than answers, complications that can’t be accounted for? That is soap life and it could kickstart the road back for Jason’s return.

Monica Quartermaine (temporarily Holly Kaplan) has indicated that it is time to have Jason declared legally dead. She wants to allow Jason Morgan’s son Jake Webber (Hudson West) to heal. He has recently lost two father figures, Jason and his stepfather Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). As Jason’s mom, Monica thinks it’s time to say a final goodbye thus she is ready to declare Jason legally dead.

Monica feels the situation is in limbo as long as there are loose ends to Jason’s story. It would be restorative for all to have a proper ceremony in which his loved ones support each other through their loss.

Jason’s body was never found in the cave collapse which leaves many unanswered questions, especially on a soap opera. For one, tons of fans think he is alive or at least hope so. If the show wants to send the message that he is truly dead, a memorial would be in order.

A funeral is such a finality that it would usher away any doubt that Jason is coming back–maybe. If his own mom says it’s time for a service, then it’s time. How will Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) react to this?

For that matter, what will Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) think and how will it affect Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst)? These ladies had major interactions with Jason and their presence in the same room could be combustible.

There would also be the question for fans, will he show up at his own funeral and amaze everyone with his return to the land of the living?

Steve Burton left the show because of ABC’s Covid vaccine mandate. In California where the show tapes, restrictions are slowly being lifted. Steve has made it clear that he wishes to finish his career playing Jason. Are we about to see the return of Stone Cold sooner rather than later?
