Within a day or two, she decided to take that back when she blurted out to Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) that she wasn’t pregnant anymore — signaling Ava to assume she had a miscarriage. Now that Ava has retreated a bit, Elizabeth is going to be faced with having to rectify some of the damage she’s done to everyone else.
In reality, Elizabeth didn’t think things through at all when she allowed Finn to assume she was pregnant. Lying and saying she cheated on him with Nikolas might have worked had she told him it happened over the summer — when Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) actually got pregnant. But pretending to be newly pregnant only would have worked until Nikolas suddenly had a newborn baby after Esme gives birth in a few months. There would have been no way to explain why Elizabeth’s baby was born full term much earlier without Finn assuming it may be his baby.
As word travels that Elizabeth had a miscarriage, she’s going to be fielding questions from her boys, especially Cameron ‘Cam’ Webber (William Lipton), and a few other people, too. Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) probably isn’t going to look too highly upon Elizabeth’s new pick for a relationship, but he will say the courteous things he’s supposed to when he hears Elizabeth just lost a baby. Eventually though, the truth is going to come out, and when everyone realizes Elizabeth didn’t really get pregnant, they’ll know she not only lied about that, but about the loss of a child as well. Can we say tasteless?
As though Elizabeth hasn’t had enough surprises coming out of her past to haunt her recently, one more is headed her way soon — and this person will have ties that bind her not only to Elizabeth, but to Nikolas, too. Could it be Elizabeth’s sister, Sarah Webber (Sarah Laine), is headed back to Port Charles? She did call Finn to check on Elizabeth when she was in Shadybrook, and she may have heard about Elizabeth’s drop-in on her parents in Monterey, too.
Sarah might be interested in making amends with Elizabeth, but her family reunions usually don’t pan out that way. Will Sarah set her sights on befriending Finn in light of the terrible ending to his relationship with her sister? Is Sarah going to seek out rekindling a friendship with Nikolas, too? Could she have an interest in what Elizabeth and Nik are up to with Esme? Word on the street is Sarah might actually be Maggie Fitzgerald, Esme’s long lost nanny.
