GH Spoilers: Elizabeth Feels Uneasy About Nik’s Affection For Esme

General Hospital Spoilers reveal Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) might be getting cold feet about her involvement in Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) plan to hold Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) as a hostage until she gives birth to his child. Elizabeth was on board with this plan when she saw no way out of it and thought she and Nikolas would remain on the same side. However, that’s now how things are shaping up to be.

When Elizabeth walked in on Nikolas marveling over a Christmas tree with Esme that he had purchased just for her, Liz wondered if she was interrupting a tender moment —- and why it was happening to begin with. As these moments continue to spring up, she won’t be feeling all that confident about Nikolas’ plan to ship Esme off and keep her silent about his and Liz’s hostage situation.

It’s that time of year when everyone wants to gather with their loved ones, sing carols, and pretend that all is right in the world despite the circumstances of whatever they’re going home to that night. Nikolas is no different. In a perfect world, he would have been able to keep his wife and his mistress’s child, but he had to choose. This time around, he wanted to make the right choice, even if he ended up paying a steep price for it. In Nik’s future, he sees himself with his child trimming the tree.

For now, he’s doing the same with his child’s mother — the only other person who could possibly feel the same way about their child that he does. Despite all their differences and everything Esme has done, Nikolas might be willing to see Esme in a different light this time of year — at least by the glow of the Christmas tree.

General Hospital spoilers show Nikolas has never been good at resisting a weak woman in need. Esme has had all the power stolen from her. Without anywhere else to turn, she really had no choice but to try to extort Nikolas for all he could offer her. She needed a play to stay and a way to feed herself, at minimum, and that is what Nikolas has provided. Meanwhile, he managed to take all the control from Esme and give it back to himself, leaving her flailing in the wind at his mercy. That’s just the kind of bait he normally latches onto. Will he fall for the very damsel in distress he has created?

When Elizabeth notices Nikolas warming up to Esme and seeing her more as the mother of his child than a predator or nefarious leech that has maimed his family, she’s going to start second-guessing her involvement in his scheme. That being said, she’s in too deep to just dip out at this point. Esme could rat her out any time. Liz is going to have to come down hard on Nik if she wants to keep him on the right path to making sure Esme never talks.
