General Hospital viewers will recall that both Stella and Phyllis are in health care professions – Phyllis, nursing and Stella more of a health care social worker recently; Stella consulted on Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) Alzheimer’s treatment and was very knowledgeable. But think back to the mid-1990s – what might Stella have been doing back then as a twenty something younger woman – could Phyllis have recognized her from Crichton-Clark from back then, when Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was comatose?
Stella also knows a lot about nursing – it is quite possible that she could have been a young nurse working there and not a social worker from the start, although she could have changed her focus later on. Or, since Stella has seen Nina and neither one has recognized each other, perhaps Stella didn’t work in the same department as Phyllis – but could have started in the social work department perhaps as a clerk and been involved in what she thought were legal adoptions!
General Hospital viewers know that when Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) was born, Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) was already working with a baby broker to put Nina’s baby up for adoption, but what if there were two – two twin girls? General Hospital viewers are suspecting that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) is Nelle’s fraternal twin – how did she get all the way to Colorado when Phyllis was assigned to take baby Nelle to Florida? If Stella was working perhaps at her first job as a medical social worker at Crichton-Clark at that time, her memories may hold the key to the mystery of Willow’s birth!
She could have worked with Madeline’s baby broker and when Nelle and Willow were born, they were separated at birth and delivered to two different locations; it is unclear if Stella would have done the driving, but Willow could have been given to a go-between – “Joan” (uncast character). What is clear is that if Stella had found out there was an illegal adoption racket and who knows what else happening at Crichton-Clark she’d have quit; and probably turned them into the authorities and gotten them shut down!
General Hospital viewers know that Crichton-Clark was owned by Victor Cassadine, (Charles Shaughnessy) possibly even back then when he was supposedly in prison; longtime viewers remember that he was the lone surviving Cassadine brother in the 1970s after the Ice Princess caper. Victor first reappeared alive at the Crichton-Clark clinic around 2014 after many years, with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) working with him, and he was also involved in a clinic in Switzerland. No wonder so many shady things were happening there – but who knew he had baby trafficking going on in the clinic in New York, or at least an illegal adoption of Nina’s twins that not even Liesl knew about!
General Hospital viewers will recall that Liesl always thought that Nina’s baby died – and she certainly didn’t know there apparently were two, and obviously she came to work at Crichton-Clark after Nina gave birth. If Stella did indeed work as a social worker at Crichton-Clark, involved in a private adoption of two twins separated at birth, assuming it was a legal adoption, her memories may be Willow’s only hope of getting a birth certificate since the clinic exploded!
