GH Spoilers: Cody’s Growing Guilt, Paternity Deception Too Much

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the arrival of Cody Bell (Brock Kelly) brought back a lot of memories for Mac Scorpio (John J York). Not long after he arrived in Port Charles, Cody revealed that he had recently discovered he was the son of Dominique Baldwin (Shell Danielson). Dominique was married to Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) when she died, but the timing doesn’t work out for Cody to be Scott’s son. But Dominique was also involved with Mac before Scott and it seemed to be likely that Cody was Mac’s son. After some convincing, Mac and Cody both agreed to a DNA test

Even though Mac suspected that he might be Cody’s father, he was hesitant to learn for certain. Cody is a grown man now and Mac wondered if Cody has any real need for a father. But after the two of them met, both Cody and Mac decided it was worth finding out. Mac hoped that Cody would turn out to be his after all. That’s why he was devastated when the results indicated that they were not related after all.

Although a part of him wanted to forge a father/son relationship with Mac, Cody’s greed won out. Since he is Leopald Taub’s heir, Cody believed that he was set to inherit a diamond and ruby necklace worth upwards of 35 million dollars. If he revealed that he was actually Mac’s son, Cody would have lost all claim to the necklace. So, Cody broke Mac’s heart by lying that they were not related. But since the WSB has now confiscated the necklace, Cody may not be its true owner anyway, especially since the diamonds in the necklace appear to be part of the Ice Princess.

At the moment, it seems as though Cody may have lost not only the necklace but also a chance to have a real father. Mac would have been thrilled to have a son but if he discovers that Cody denied him in order to get a fortune, he may not want anything to do with Cody once the truth comes out. It would be a shame because Mac and Cody could have been good for each other as father and son.
