Carly and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) are mortal enemies, and the last thing Carly has ever wanted was for Nina to be anywhere near her grandson, Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver). When Carly finds out Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) — her own boyfriend — has championed the cause of finding Willow’s birth parents, she couldn’t be more stunned and anxious.
Drew has Willow brimming with anticipation that his plan to find her birth parents just might work. Aurora Media has a huge following, and if anyone out there knows something about the circumstances surrounding Willow’s birth — or how Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) came to take care of her afterward — Drew’s company is sure to get to the bottom of it. By the time Carly finds out what he’s up to, the offer will have already been made and set into motion to go to press.Carly will recognize that no matter what she says, there’s no turning this car around now.
Drew is pretty proud of his idea to float Willow’s story through the media to capture national attention — especially as a means of trying to find anyone who might have known Harmony at the commune she raised Willow in out in Colorado. However, it will appear Carly sees things very differently.
When Drew tries to appeal to her by implying how much easier it would’ve been for her to find Bobbie Spencer (Jaclyn Zeman) if she had the use of technology and a way to reach people all over the world, Carly might slip up and comment that he doesn’t need such a reach to find Willow’s mom. More hints will start dropping that Carly knows more than she’s letting on, and Drew is going to do his best to ignore him and now burst their love bubble.
When Carly asks why Willow has suddenly had a chance of heart, she and Michael won’t have much of a defense because Willow isn’t ready for anyone to know she has cancer. So for now, they’ll have to pretend Willow merely feels like finding her mom and dad, and Carly will have to pretend she doesn’t really care one way or the other.
As she starts to pick apart his plan to relay Willow’s story to the world, Carly is going to downplay it as though it’s not a good idea. Being the good guy that Drew is who wants to see the positive side of everyone, he’s going to give Carly the benefit of the doubt — and he might for a bit too long.
