In the kitchen area of the Quartermaine mansion, Ned and Drew are getting themselves a nice drink of orange juice to start their morning. Brook Lynn can be seen standing in the back by a window, listening and observing what is going on between the two of them. Things get a little testy around the orange juice table, perhaps they should have added champagne and had mimosas, Ned in particular is pretty upset!
Drew is frustrated as well as they are arguing about the pending merger of Aurora Media and ELQ, and Ned doesn’t like the position offered to him. Drew asks Ned if he really thought that they were meeting and discussing everything behind his back!
The coffee may not be hot, but Ned sure is, as he tells Drew he was kidding about thinking he and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) were meeting behind his back. Drew picks up a glass of orange juice and takes a drink and asks Ned if he’s still opposed to the Aurora/ELQ merger. Ned says yes, he is, because he believes he is the right choice to lead ELQ after they get rid of Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Drew asks Ned to let him be as tactful as possible, and tells him he has no media experience, to which Ned indignantly blusters! Ned rants “so you throw me a bone and make me COO?” in a tone that indicates he thinks taking that position is beneath his dignity!
Drew answers if Ned doesn’t want that position, fine – make him a counteroffer; he clarifies he means anything other than CEO. That just makes Ned even angrier and more offended; he tells Drew that he and Michael are in no position to offer him anything! Ned continues his rant, telling Drew that every time this family needed him at ELQ he stepped up and he has a longer history there than him or even Michael!
Drew gets snarky at that point becoming offended at Ned’s becoming offended – he tells him, “You know what – you’re right” and then he really becomes sarcastic! He confesses that he had missed a few board meetings while he was being held captive by Peter August (Wes Ramsey)!
Ned is not being fair at all to Drew when he answers his remark about missing board meetings when he was held captive. He sarcastically tells him that he certainly didn’t race back when he was free to attend board meetings, implying he didn’t behave like a real Quartermaine! Brook Lynn, observing and listening to them the whole time that they have been arguing feels now like she has to interrupt and try to intervene! She shouts at both of them, “enough!” and asks what is it with this family – does everything have to be a death cage match?
