GH Spoilers: Britt Falls Ill And Cody Falls for Her

General Hospital spoilers tease Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) has gotten pretty used to being alone. Her relationships over the years have crashed and burned one after the next. None of us have forgotten her dalliance with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) or Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) — least of all her. When Britt ended up on the run with Jason Morgan (Steve Morgan) last year, she never imagined she would fall in love with him, or that he would return her feelings. So, of course he died. That’s how Britt feels about it anyway; in her mind, nothing ever really works out for her.

So it makes perfect sense that she just let her guard down a smidge once again, and had started to entertain allowing something to blossom with Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) when Huntington’s Disease has decided to rear its ugly head at her. With symptoms flaring stronger and more frequently than ever before, Britt is certain of her impending fate, and all the more sure she couldn’t possibly ask anyone new to get attached to her now.

Britt had a handful of tremors over the last few years that led her to seek her initial diagnosis with Jason by her side. It felt safer doing so on the run and under an assumed name in another country. But treating Huntington’s in the hospital she helps run in her hometown feels far less secure. The last thing Britt wants is everyone doting on her or throwing pity her way. She’s kept her diagnosis a secret for good reason, and she isn’t trying to rock that boat now when she can barely manage her own feelings about this disease.

With persistent signs that her health problems are advancing rapidly, Britt can’t handle the burden of a relationship. If she allows herself to fall for Cody like she did for Jason, it’ll only make it harder to keep the truth from him — and she’s certainly now willing to tell him she’s battling a terminal disease. Furthermore, it wouldn’t be fair to Cody to let him grow attached to a woman who is going to leave him that way. So, without any decent explanation to give him, Britt is going to start pushing Cody away.

Lucky for Britt, General Hospital spoilers show Cody is a pretty persistent cowboy. He’s too invested now to just walk away because she seems to be playing hard to get. Besides, she also has ownership of Leopold Taub’s (Chip Lucia) necklace that Cody desperately wants.

As he pushes to get closer to Britt, and she pulls away, he’s going to question whether she’s into him anymore. His disappointment just might be enough to get Britt to open up, but what would she be risking by telling a guy who is after her estate that she might be leaving it behind very soon?
