Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) isn’t too keen on continuing her relationship with Austin now, knowing he blackmailed the father of her child, Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). As Austin is hanging onto hope that he can mend fences with Maxie, his professional life is going to take another hit, and an unlikely ally will step up to the plate to help him in both departments.
Mason is going to swing back around to GH and expect Austin to come through for him again. Will it be another gunshot victim in the ER this time, or something even more drastic? Why is Austin always having to cover for the elusive and unnamed “boss lady” that Mason works for, and does she pose any relation or harm to Austin if he doesn’t comply?
Although Maxie is thinking she may not want to move forward with Austin, he doesn’t want to admit to himself that their relationship is over. Maxie thinks their relationship is built on a trauma bond from the shared experience of her adrenaline-filled forest-based birth, but Austin’s heart tells him it’s more than that. As he becomes more fixated on getting back into Maxie’s good graces, he will struggle to know how he’s going to do that when she really doesn’t even want to see him. That’s where Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) will come in.
Austin recently helped Britt out when she was in a difficult spot. Struggling with symptoms of Huntington’s Disease, Austin was the first person Britt felt comfortable opening up to about her diagnosis since she received it and told Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and her mother, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati). Britt will appreciate tha Austin was there to hold her hand and lend moral support when she needed a confidante.
Furthermore, he went out of his way to be a friend to her as she spoke to the Huntington’s specialist he brought to GH to meet with her. Britt owes Austin, and she’s going to attempt to deliver when she not only covers for his suspicious behavior at the hospital, but tries to boost Maxie’s impression of him and coax her into giving him another shot. Will Maxie see right through Britt’s manipulation? Will Britt think she’s even doing anything wrong, or is she too caught up in seizing the day in her own final days to remember that not everyone makes such decisions without logic and reason?
