GH Spoilers: A Look Back On Our Fave Characters At Shadybrook

Some would say most of the people living in Port Charles are lucky not to end up in Shadybrook at one time or another. Between the nervous breakdowns and the crimes committed when someone is out of their mind, the good people of Port Chuck know how to make insanity work for them.

The revolving door to this mental facility isn’t for the faint at heart. Some people have voluntarily checked themselves in over the years — more recent examples being Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) when she was losing time and grieving following Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) death, and Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) when Nikolas’ return in 2019 left her distraught and bordering on serious alcoholism. Still, they weren’t too far out on the ledge. Here are our top three pics for the wildest rides inside the walls of Shadybrook Sanitarium.

General Hospital Spoilers — Carly Spencer Went Crazy

Back in 2005, Kristina Corinthos Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) was missing, and an FBI agent by the name of Reese Marshall (Kari Wuhrer) came to Port Charles to assist in the investigation. She fell hard for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) — as nearly all federal agents do. Reese quickly became an integral part of Sonny’s life, and that of son, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).

Although Sonny and Carly weren’t together at the time, she just couldn’t stand Reese. Something rubbed her the wrong way, and eventually, it drove her so mad that she was institutionalized at Shadybrook following having a complete breakdown over Reese. Obviously, Carly recovered, but she nearly took her life in the months she spent in the asylum. Realizing Reese was actually her childhood frenemy, Charlotte ‘Carly’ Roberts, played a big role in her bouncing back.

GH Spoilers – Hint Kate Howard Meets Connie Falconeri

According to General Hospital spoilers, Sonny really knows how to pick ‘em! He thought he had found love again with Kate Howard (Megan Ward), she suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder. Her alternate personality, Connie, did a lot of damage to Kate and Sonny’s relationship. For a time, neither one of them knew if they would make it. Eventually, Kate was cuffed and sent off to Shadybrook for treatment. Kate later assumed her birth name — Connie Falconeri — before Ava shot her in cold blood and took her life.

General Hospital Spoilers — Heather Webber Takes The Cake

Heather Webber (Alley Mills) might pack the biggest punch when it comes to insanity in this bunch of Port Chuck citizens. Heather has spent more than one stint in mental asylums over the years, but the biggest fan favorite has to be her lock-up in 2015 when she tried to inject Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) with LSD. Her plan failed because Franco showed up just in time to stop her, but fans reveled in the reference to Heather’s past love of the drug.

Still, Heather’s victory speech that ensued left Franco unnerved and sullen. As Heather remarked she was still on the winning side because her son and Nina would remain apart from one another, Franco grabbed the LSD and injected himself in hopes of preventing a separation from his bestie, Nina. A month of hallucinations that brought Franco to hell and back helped him learn his lesson. Just say no. Stay tuned for more General Hospital news and spoilers just ahead!
