General Hospital Spoilers: Dex Isn’t Michael’s Undercover Sleuth — He’s His Brother

General Hospital spoilers reveals Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) took things too far when he covered for Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and testified on her behalf during a trial between her and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) as they questioned Nina’s fitness to be around their son, Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver). Michael didn’t even consider the possibility that he would someday be able to move on and forgive his father. Instead, he vowed to destroy him, and to remove the stain from the Corinthos name Sonny has given it.

General Hospital Spoilers — Michael Corintos Needed A Covert Ally

We have no idea how these people come to be linked together in Port Charles, but it appears if you’re in need of a henchman, spy, or other covert smooth operator, you can put a wanted ad out somewhere and people like Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) come calling. The former military recruit was dishonorably discharged for assaulting a superior officer who was abusing his family, and that made him appealing to Michael because he knew Sonny would secretly like that Dex defended the family being abused. Dex was the perfect fit from where Michael sits, but Michael hasn’t bothered asking himself why Dex is so interested in this job. He’s going to soon.

Conveniently, at the very time that Michael needed someone to infiltrate Sonny’s organization, Sonny was still lacking a right-hand man he could truly trust. No one had been able to fill that role since Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) exited Port Charles and GH. Thus, Sonny was none the wiser when Dex circled around as someone that could prove his value and loyalty to the mobster if given the chance.

Eventually, Sonny gave him that chance. It hasn’t been smooth sailing, but for the most part, Dex hasn’t been caught in a lie. He’s quick enough on his feet that he has dodged questions from Sonny with all the right answers. However, Sonny has had to push back on some of his instincts that have bubbled up, and he’s going to recognize where they were coming from soon enough.

GH Spoilers — What’s In It for Dex Heller?

While Michael was uber focused on his revenge against Sonny, it never occurred to him that Dex’s strong interest in being the person who helped him with it could be fueled by his own agenda. We’ve seen people come into the mix from out of town before and try to take Sonny down. Years ago, his own son, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) did so. Thus, the last thing anyone is expecting is another son of Sonny’s to show up with the same goal, but that may be just who Dex is.

Counting backward through Sonny’s many love affairs, we come to his first wife, Lily Corinthos (Lilly Melgar). She was pregnant with Sonny’s child when she met her alleged demise in a car explosion meant for the mobster. Is it possible Lily survived that explosion — put in place by her own father — and has been held captive or raising Sonny’s child by choice out of harm’s way all these years? Is it possible Dex is that child? The years do line up correctly. We’re going to have to keep running in to see how it might rock Michael’s world to find out the spy he brought in to take down Sonny is his own brother — and to discover whose side Dex is really on.
