EastEnders Teases More Details For Dot Branning’s Emotional Funeral Episode

EastEnders spoilers, news, and updates tease that further details have been revealed about Dot Branning’s (June Brown), which is scheduled to air later this month. Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) will play an integral role in the tribute episode as she struggles to cope with Dot’s passing.

June Brown passed away in April 2022. She made her final appearance on the show back in January 2020.

Show bosses have decided to pay a well-deserved tribute to the late June Brown and her iconic Walford character. The special episode will be an emotional farewell, with Sonia taking center stage.

She wants to make Dot proud so she’ll take the opportunity to give a eulogy at her funeral. She turns to Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Reverend Mills (Melanie Kilburn) for support prior to the day of the service.

Dot will be given the EastEnder’s “traditional funeral,” which comes with “all the pomp and circumstance.”

An EastEnders statement also teased that fans can expect “big surprises, fond memories, and a newcomer” close to Dots who may change the life of one person in Walford.

“For EastEnders’ cast and crew, it was a profoundly emotional experience as they said a final farewell to Dot and their cherished colleague, June Brown,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) and her exit storyline will kick off in the coming weeks. She has been mourning the loss of her grandmother, Dot. Later on, Dotty gets excited at the thought of selling the house and traveling the world once Dot’s will is revealed. Fans need to stay tuned to know who gets what, but it’s already been confirmed that Dotty is leaving Walford for good. Whether she’s going on a trip or whatnot still remains to be seen.

“After three and a half years, I have decided my journey with the icon that is Dotty Cotton has come to an end,” Zero said in a previous statement.

She also expressed her gratitude for being part of the show, which has been life-changing for the actress. She will miss EastEnders, but she’s also ready to face new challenges head-on.
