Eastenders spoilers reveal that Danniella Westbrooke recently threatened to sue BBC over her character being recast. As fans know, Westbrooke played Sam Mitchell in the soap. However, she wasn’t brought back to reprise the role. Instead, the soap chose Kim Medcalf. After threatening to sue, it seems that Westbrooke is getting some retail therapy.

Eastenders spoilers reveal that soaps recast characters all the time. Sometimes it’s the actor’s choice not to return or they are unavailable. Other times the soap has its own reasons for giving the role to one actor over another. With the character of Sam Mitchell, the soap decided to hand Medcalf the role. Apparently, Westbrooke got really upset over this.

Eastenders spoilers reveal that Westbrooke spoke to The Sun about the soap’s decision earlier this month. She said,

“I’ve been known as Sam Mitchell for 32 years. But nobody at EastEnders contacted me to let me know they had recast Kim in the role. There wasn’t even an email to my agent. I was shocked because they do have a responsibility to tell me and someone should have.”

The actress has struggled with addiction since she was 14 years old. Now 48, Westbrooke said that the soap bosses watched her go through addiction. However, they have “no idea where I am today.” The actress also stated that she is okay but the addiction could have led to some very serious consequences.

Although Westbrooke has her assumptions as to why she wasn’t informed of the recast, the soap didn’t respond to The Sun’s request for comment.

According to the Daily Mail, Westbrooke is all smiles right now. On Wednesday, she was seen getting some retail therapy. Photos were shared of the actress carrying shopping bags. At the time, she was wearing an oversized gray jumper with dark sweatpants. In addition, the actress chose to wear a black cap on her head, which had a branded log on it.

In other news regarding Westbrooke, she is really proud of her daughter. Jodie Jenkins recently signed with an influencer agency. The 20-year-old will be represented by the Social Inspire Group, Westbrooke shared on Instagram. Speaking of Jodie, the actress didn’t have a relationship with her daughter for about three years. However, things seem to be going much better now.

“Thank you for sending me my best friend and a hero. Every day for nearly 21 years I’ve been full of gratitude and pride for you.”
