Eastenders spoilers reveal that Anna died in a tragic house fire, according to the official Twitter account for the BBC soap. Anna lived on Windsor Road in Ilford. Firefighters rushed to put out the fire, which was on the ground floor of a mid-terrace home on Tuesday, February 22 around 10:30 pm. Despite the fire getting under control in under an hour, the actress didn’t survive. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

On Twitter, the official account for the BBC soap released a statement on Anna’s death. The statement was posted on Wednesday, February 23. The spokeswoman wrote,

“Anna created a sharp, quick-witted and extremely popular character in Aunt Sal that the audience will never forget, just as those who worked with her at EastEnders will never forget her warmth, kindness, fun and good humor. Our love and thoughts are with Anna’s family and friends.”

Eastenders spoilers reveal that Anna began playing the role of Aunt Sal in 1996. The actress last appeared in the soap in 2017. For those that are unaware, Aunt Sal was the sister of Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor).

Anna was born in South Africa on September 19, 1963. The actress married Terry Duggan and lived in Greater London at the time of her death.
