That led to fans wondering if Joey Johnson (formerly played by James Lastovic) would also make a comeback. The bad news is that Lastovic has moved on. The good news is that Tanner Stine will be playing the new Joey in the NBC soap opera.

DOOL spoilers reveal that Joey went through a lot in his years on the NBC soap. Fans weren’t too happy with how Joey was written off, which was due to Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) death. That led to Joey going to prison. Years later, everyone discovered that Ava was alive and well, which meant Joey needed to get released from prison.

It was recently reported that Stephanie was going to come home to Salem. Actress Abigail Klein will be appearing on the DOOL spinoff, “Beyond Salem.” It is teased that after that the appearance in the spinoff, which will air on the Peacock streaming service, fans will see Stephanie on the NBC soap.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Stephanie won’t be the only one coming home to Steve “Patch” Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans). Joey will also be appearing with Stephanie in “Beyond Salem.” According to Soap Opera News, Joey and Stephanie will both appear in the NBC soap after their stint on the spinoff.

However, it won’t be Lastovic who returns as Joey. The part has been recast with actor Tanner Stine. The DOOL newcomer’s other projects have included The Haunted Hathaways, NCIS, I Didn’t Do It, Wicked City, Seduced, Teen Wolf, and Get Big.

Stine is also credited with roles in Zac and Mia, Here and Now, The Thundermans, Adopted, A Million Little Things, Betch, and Impulse. According to IMDB, Stine will appear as Joey in episode 6 of “Beyond Salem.”

It is not explained why Lastovic didn’t come back as Joey. It is also not known if not returning was the actor’s choice or the soap’s decision. However, Lastovic’s latest projects include This Game’s Called Murder as well as The Doghouse.
