Days Of Our Lives Star Billy Flynn Opens Up About Chad Losing Abigail

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal another week of mourning as Chad still can’t believe his beloved Abigail is dead and apparently, neither can Billy Flynn.

After years of two actresses alternating the role of Abigail DiMera, DOOL got sick of accommodating both of these performers and chose to kill off the character (for now?) rather than trying to recast her with a third actress that may or may not click. So, Abigail DiMera was stabbed in her bed and now a legacy character is dead. And even Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Will Utay) can’t bring her back to life, according to Kayla Johnson.

That leaves Billy Flynn’s Chad DiMera without a love interest and a little lost. Of course, this does free him up for other stories now that Chad is no longer in a happy marriage, but maybe that was what had to happen at this point on the Abby merry-go-round.

Like Marci Miller, Flynn was surprised that the show decided to kill off Abby, but he knows why the powers that be felt it had to be done.

“It’s very sad. I didn’t think they were going to do that to Abigail,” Flynn said in the June 28, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “That being said, I think it’s the only way to do it moving forward. You can’t just keep writing her off. I would rather have them do this than continue to make her go crazy and torture her in all these crazy ways.”

Flynn does think if no actress can commit to the role, then Chad has to be able to move on and the only way to do that is to have Abby seem to be gone permanently. (Of course, we all know dead is never usually dead on a soap, especially on DAYS).

“As an actor playing Chad, if Abigail is around, it’s going to be tough for the audience to want him to move on,” Flynn said. “And you can’t really tell a story for Chad if Abigail is going to be in limbo all the time…I’m excited for the potential of what’s to come. But I love Chad and Abigail. They’re a great love story.”
