After his disappointment in not getting the job at The Spectator and Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) chewing him out over his financial situation, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) feels like he is in dire straits financially. He is in major credit card debt and he does not want his new wife, Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), to pay for his mistakes.

He really does want to go on the straight and narrow and get a job that won’t land him in hot water, but that’s not to be at the moment. Instead, a newly-invigorated Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) comes calling and makes it worth his financial while to kidnap Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk). Xander doesn’t really want to do anything illegal, but desperate times call for desperate measures, right?
