DOOL spoilers reveal that Xander’s heart was broken when fake Sarah aka Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) broke his heart on their wedding day. When Gwen impersonated Sarah to stop Xander and Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) from continuing their search, the former villain’s heart was broken again.

Just when Gwen hoped she didn’t have to worry about Xander’s former flame anymore, the real Sarah turned up. As fans know, Sarah isn’t herself and thinks she is Renee DuMonde.

Even though most fans want “Xarah” together, Telfer hinted to Soap Opera Digest that might not happen. The actor teased,

“He can’t just magically make the last year and a half disappear. As much as he clearly does love Gwen and they have so much more in common than he and Sarah do, the idea of Sarah is still so important to him.”

So, it seems that Gwen is the woman in Xander’s heart. While Xander will always love Sarah, loving a person and loving the “idea” of them are two different things. Could this mean that Sarah is in the past and Gwen is in the future? It might or it might not.

As much as Gwen has done to thwart Sarah’s return, is that something Xander could really forgive? He might understand it, but that doesn’t mean he has to accept it. We will have to keep watching the NBC soap to see what happens next with Xander, Gwen, and Sarah.
