DOOL spoilers reveal that last year, it was announced that Sweeney would be coming back for an extended storyline. Eight years ago, the actress announced she was leaving the NBC soap after growing up on our television screens. The character has come back for short stints now and again. However, she has yet to come back on a full-time permanent basis.

Sweeney’s storyline reignited Sami and Lucas’ passion, but “Lumi” would not get back together. Once EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) arrived in Salem, “Ejami” got back together. Then, EJ found out about Sami’s affair, kicked her out, then she was kidnapped.

Once Sami was free from captivity, Lucas made sure EJ was framed for the crime. Sami and Lucas decided to leave Salem together to rebuild their relationship. It was a silent anticlimactic exit and Sami didn’t even return to testify at EJ’s trial.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Sami could come back again. However, it will be like it’s been since her exit eight years ago. Fans should only expect Sami to come back once in a while for short stints. In fact, the actress spoke to People magazine and made it clear that she’s not interested in coming back full-time.

DOOL Spoilers – Actress Speaks Out

Sweeney’s reason is that she is happy with her projects for the Hallmark Channel. The actress explained,

“No, full-time is not the plan for me. Because I produce and develop content for Hallmark and other streaming services. I love getting to do my own projects. I do feel so blessed to be able to have the best of both worlds. The opportunity to go back to Days of Our Lives, it feels like going home again, to be honest with you. It’s like visiting my family during the holidays. I get to see everyone. I get to play Sami. I get to go home. But then I get to go out and develop these projects and… push myself.”
