Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Who is Marcus Hunter? Learn About Jada’s Dad

Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates tease that Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) the new detective on the Salem Police Department block, is the daughter of former DOOL character Marcus Hunter (Richard Biggs). Let’s talk about who Marcus was.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Marcus Hunter Was A Good Friend Of The Johnsons

Jada noted during her interview with Salem Police Commissioner Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) that Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) steered her in the right direction. Marcus Hunter was a good friend of both Steve and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and actually grew up in the orphanage with Steve when they were children. Longtime DOOL viewers should remember that Marcus came on the scene in 1987, and came on a mission to help Steve.

Later, Marcus became a plastic surgeon at Salem University Hospital, where Kayla is now Chief of Staff. He wanted to find out what happened to his family of origin, and soon made that his mission.

DOOL Spoilers: Marcus Hunter Sought The Help Of Gail Carson, An Anesthesiologist

In his quest to find his birth parents and what happened to them, he sought the help of Gail Carson (Patrice Chanel) who was working at Salem University Hospital as an anesthesiologist. She, Marcus and Steve took a trip to Charleston, South Carolina where they tracked down Marcus’ Aunt Lizzie Putnam (Adrian Ricard) who advised him to stop looking into his past.

Also around that time, Marcus helped Steve medically when he needed the bones around his eye reconstructed so that he could wear a glass eye. Marcus soon found out why Aunt Lizzie didn’t want him digging around in his past; the events of his parents’ death were pretty ugly and violent.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Marcus Hunter’s Parents Were Killed In A Church Bombing

Soon after the trip to see Aunt Lizzie, Marcus, started dating Faith Taylor (Melinda Clarke) who was and was met with disapproval by her father, Saul Taylor (James Hampton).  Marcus was not of Saul’s faith and there were other, more despicable reasons as well, with Marcus being Black and Saul and Faith being White. Saul broke up the relationship and there was another reason as well besides Saul having been a bigot – Saul knew something that Marcus had forgotten.

Gail and Marcus kept looking into his past on Days of Our Lives, and infiltrated a church camp where he had first gotten involved with Faith. Marcus was soon attacked and knocked unconscious, and as a result, remembered something about his parents and how they died.

DOOL Spoilers: Saul Taylor And Colonel Alfred Jericho Blew Up The Church

Marcus, getting his memories back from when he was a child, remembered how his parents died; they were victims in a church bombing by Saul and Colonel Alfred Jericho (Steve Eastin). Afterwards, Marcus and Gail continued dating for a while until it was revealed she was undercover, really an ISA agent masquerading as an anesthesiologist. After that, Marcus took a shine to Kayla, years after Steve presumably died; but she didn’t feel the same way and started dating Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy). Kayla’s rejection led to Marcus leaving Salem in 1992, never to return. Richard Biggs passed away in 2004 at the young age of 44 from an aortic dissection, but it’s possible Marcus could return to Salem as a recast.
