Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) has been on the show for decades. The character and actress are among one of the fans’ favorites. Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – More Comedy In Soap

DOOL spoilers reveal that Evans spoke to Soap Opera Digest about the character of Kayla. The actress began playing the part in 1986 and remains part of the soap to this day. There have been times when Kayla has been given major storylines. Other times, fans don’t see her much while the focus is on other Salemites.

One change that Kayla would like to see is more comedy on DOOL. The actress specifically remembers one scene that she absolutely loved.

“I’ve really enjoyed the times that we’ve done funny things and wish there was more of that. I remember when Steve [Johnson, played by Stephen Nichols] and Kayla were trapped in the chemical room and were a little high from that. I recently did a little drunk scene with EJ [DiMera, played by Dan Feuerriegel]. I wish there was more comedy.”

As for what Kayla is lacking right now, the actress quickly admitted that it’s Steve and Kayla’s children. Joey Johnson (formerly played by James Lastovic) is no longer in Salem. Stephanie Johnson (last played by Shelley Hennig) is also not on the soap anymore.

Kayla is a stepmother and mentor to Steve and Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) son, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams). However, the actress and fans would like to see one or both of Kayla’s kids come back on the canvas.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Kayla has gone through a lot of different storylines over the years. Some of the ones that Evans thinks affected Kayla the most include when Steve died in the 90s. Evans remembers Kayla climbing on the hospital bed with Steve. It was extremely heartbreaking and traumatic for the character.

There was also the death of her father, Shawn Brady [most notably played by Frank Parker]. The actress also mentioned Bo Brady’s (Peter Reckell) death.

DOOL Spoilers – What To Expect Next

Right now, Kayla and Steve are trying to escape captivity on Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) deserted island. When the soap returns during the week of February 21, “Stayla” will cross paths with Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) and Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller).
