Days of Our Lives fans are still mourning the death of John Aniston, the beloved actor who played Victor Kiriakis for nearly 40 years.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Grandfather And Grandson
For 15 years, Eric Martsolf and Aniston worked together as grandfather and grandson. Brady Black is the son of John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Isabella Toscano Black (Staci Greason), but Isabella was really the daughter of Victor, although she wasn’t raised by him. Both John and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) made sure that Brady knew who his grandfather was when growing up and Brady even spent many years living in the Kiriakis mansion.
Since 2008, Martsolf and Aniston enjoyed working together and like the entire DOOL cast, Martsolf was devastated when the actor passed. The two performers always had an amazing rapport together, with Victor never failing to give Brady a hard time through all of his many screwups in life.
DOOL Spoilers – Love Between Characters And Actors
Despite it all, there was a great love between Brady and Victor, and when the soap eventually writes Victor off by having him pass away, we are sure Brady might mourn him more than anyone.
Martsolf has some fond memories of working with Aniston through the years and recently shared some of them in the December 19, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. And yes, Martsolf does have this overall amazing memory of seeing Aniston and Victor in one famous place.
“I just see him in that chair sitting there,” Martsolf said. “T’s like when you watch Game of Thrones and you see the tentativeness of all the knights and all the people walking up to the iron throne. The king is sitting up there. That’s kind of the feeling you got when you walked into the Kiriakis mansion and saw John sitting there in his chair. It’s hardly a throne, but that chair and him were like one thing. It was a powerful little element that only he could really convey.”
Martsolf also loved Aniston’s sense of humor and will miss it, saying, “He always had a joke, particularly a joke that you wouldn’t feel comfortable saying to most people.”
As fans know, Victor also had the best one-liners and character and actor will be sorely missed. Stream new episodes of Days of Our Lives weekdays on Peacock starting at 6 AM EST.
