Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal a big shock for Nicole as Eric is back and this time he’s not flying off to Africa any minute.

Just when Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) thought she could finally enjoy a stable life with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering)minus all the drama she endured with other men, since Rafe is quite boring after all, she’s thrown a curve ball or a plot twist, if we want to be technical. Her ex-husband, the love of her life, has decided he has had enough of saving people in a remote African village and now it’s time to spend his life home back in Salem.

DOOL Spoilers – What Will Nicole Walker Do Now?

While Greg Vaughan returned for a few brief appearances over the last two years, this time he is back on a more permanent basis, which will without a doubt complicate things for Nicole. Fans knew this was coming as Eric was in the big DAYS promo shown during the Olympics, but now we know this is not another guest appearance and he will actually have his own storyline.

Of course, that storyline will have to involve Nicole as it always does and always has for more than two decades now. Eric and Nicole had finally gotten married after trying so many times when Eric flew off to Africa leaving Nicole alone.

She foolishly slept with Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), which completely and totally destroyed her marriage and that was the last Eric and Nicole saw of one another. He couldn’t imagine she’d settle into a serious relationship with Rafe of all people.

Is Eric back because he intends to fight Nicole or does he just want to fix his life without any romantic entanglements right now? Even if he wants to remain single, that pull towards Nicole has been there since the 1990s so why would he think it would disappear now.

The same could be said for Nicole. Eric has been her one constant and she only struck up this friendship with Rafe because she was lonely without her husband. Things can get very complicated indeed. Stay tuned to Days of Our Lives weekdays to see how this story turns out.
