Dad Joe Posts Heartfelt Gabby Petito Tribute A Year After Her Death

Gabby Petito died a year ago, and in September of last year, her hometown mourned her passing. Now her dad, (Joseph) Joe Petito posted up a heartfelt tribute to his daughter. It came via social media on the anniversary of her death.

While Gabby was missing, people hoped that she’d be found okay. However, all hope faded when her remains were found. For months, volunteers and authorities hunted for the only suspect in her death: Brian Laundrie. A year ago, his remains were discovered in a Florida reserve. Previously searched, questions were asked about why the cadaver dogs missed them in the flood waters.

Joe Petito firmly believed that the killer of Gabby Petito was protected by Brian Laundrie’s family. Actually, there are lawsuits pending at the moment. But, that won’t bring back their daughter. When the details of Brian’s confession emerged, he claimed that he killed her to stop her from suffering after a fall. Now, probably the only ones mourning Brian are those people in his family. But plenty of people responded to Joe’s sad post this weekend.

Taking to Instagram on August 27, Joe shared a particularly lovely photo of his beautiful daughter. In his caption, he wrote, “Exactly 1 year ago today you were taken from us. We miss you everyday. We cry everyday. You have inspired so many to live, travel, and leave their unhealthy relationships. We love you Gabby.” Most heartbreaking was his hashtag, “#thelightremains.”

A lot of people cared about Gabby Petito, and many of them felt that her tragic story influenced their lives for the better. Hopefully, her family can take some comfort from that. One follower said, “Gabby is making her mark in this world, still to this day, because of Gabby I left my abusive now ex husband. Thinking of u all today and everyday ❤️.”

Another person who felt impacted by Gabby’s story said, “❤️ She helped my daughter leave an abusive relationship.” They added, “and she will be going to nursing school or dental hygienist. It’s because of gabby life. That my daughter was inspired to get out. We will always remember Gabby.”

Love for Gabby Petito came in from total strangers to Jope Petito. One follower wrote, “The impact Gabby has left behind across the World has been incredible. Forever an angel, always missed. Sending love to your Family today and always?.”

Likewise, another commenter said, “I cannot believe it’s been one year. I think of Gabby so often. I truly hope your family feels the love and support from your “virtual friends” ❤️. She impacted all of us in one way or another ❤️”

Loving thoughts won’t bring her back, but hopefully, the outpouring of love helps Joe and his family find some peace.
