Madeleine McCann has her very own Wikipedia page for all the wrong reasons. For 15 years, people from across the world hoped that one day, the missing child would be found. Or, at least an abductor would be arrested, prosecuted, and sent to prison.
However, as the hope of ever closing the case dwindles, the cops now conclude their investigation known as the Operation Grange inquiry. It started four years after her disappearance during a family vacation.
Madeleine McCann – Captured The Interest Of Americans
Unlike Gabby Petito who caught the attention of millions of Americans, Madeleine was not living in the USA, nor did she disappear in the country. In fact, she hailed from the UK and disappeared in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve region of Portugal. Just eight days shy of her fourth birthday, the cute kid simply vanished.
It happened when her younger twin siblings and friends slept in a bedroom just a short distance away from where her parents had dinner. To this day, nobody ever found her again, despite some reports that people thought they saw her.
One of the biggest searches in history revealed no trace of Madeleine McCann and that wrote off the suspicion that she might have wandered off and gotten lost. So, suspicion turned to her parents who police believed might have killed her and hidden her remains. However, that came to nothing and the case was dropped.
For a long time, her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann continued pushing the investigation However, no suspect dead or alive emerged initially. Then, Operation Operation Grange discovered that someone thought they saw a man with Madeline on the beach, and hope flared up again. However, he apparently has an alibi.
Madeleine McCann – Inquiry Into Christian Brückner
In 2020, German police suspected that a known pedophile, Christian Brückner probably abducted the kid. However, despite high hopes that they would be able to bring a case against him this year, that has now fallen through.
The Sun UK reported that the police feel that it’s no use pursuing the case any further. Additionally, funding for the operation runs out at the end of this month. According to their source, the outlet notes that the cops will probably wrap the whole thing up in Autumn.
The source said “The end of the road for Operation Grange is now in sight” and “The team’s work is expected to be completed by autumn.” Of course, if any significant new evidence does arise, then the police will investigate it further. But for now, it looks like nobody will be found and charged for the disappearance of the little girl.
Madeleine McCann – Hope Had Faded
Even the official Instagram page for Madeleine McCann has not posted anything since June 2020. While hope remains that one day she will reappear, it seems like a very long shot right now. While she might have gone, certainly, to this day, she has never been forgotten.
