TLC fans sometimes think that Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard might have become a lawyer in case he ever ended up in a lawsuit with his father-in-law. Actually, he’s remarkably outspoken about the head of the Duggar clan in Arkansas. When Jim Bob campaigned for a vacant Senate seat, Derick slammed him, calling him “a liar,” and likened his lifestyle as being akin to “human trafficking.” And yet, any anticipated lawsuit never happened. Meanwhile, Katie Joy of Without A Crystal Ball often throws Jim Bob under the bus and no lawsuits emerged from that either.
Right now the, Counting On dad is pretty much on the backburner because Todd Chrisley was just found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion. Katie Joy makes much of that because he brought a lawsuit against her, and she counter-claimed it. Interestingly, a discussion about Jim Bob Duggar and lawsuits arose in the comments of one of her posts about Todd on Without A Crystal Ball’s Instagram.
When Katie Joy shared the outcome of Todd and Julie Chrisley’s trial, she also shared the prosecution’s statements about the court finding them guilty. Unrelated to the conviction, a follower said to Katie, “tbh I’m surprised Jim Bob hasn’t attempted suing you for defamation, he obvs wouldn’t win but I’m surprised he hasn’t tried.”
Actually, it does seem surprising that the Counting On patriarch hasn’t brought a lawsuit against Katie. After all, others did battle with her apparently busy attorneys. Steve McRae from TheNonSequitur Show is just one of those people. Another one was beauty influencer, Tati Westbrook. More recently, Robert Shinn from the Shekinah Church and 7M Films production and management company also took out a lawsuit against the influencer.
Certainly, it sounds like the influencer doesn’t fear the Counting On alum bringing any lawsuits against her. In her reply about that possibility, she said, “The IBlP really isn’t about suing people – because then they’d bring attention to the negative things people say.” Additionally, she noted, “He already lost when he tried to sue InTouch.”
You might recall that InTouch published a redacted report about Josh Duggar’s molestation of his four sisters and a friend. Of course, it’s public knowledge now as it all emerged during Josh’s trial for child porn. But back then, when Jim filed a lawsuit against the outlet for publishing the story, he lost.
