A few years ago, almost no Counting On fans could predict that Derick Dillard would rocket in popularity. Recall, at one stage he was slammed for comments that fans thought were homophobic. That came when he talked about Jazz Jennings on TLC. Well, all is forgiven now as he’s an outspoken critic of Jim Bob Duggar. Plus, he supports his wife, Jill. Now he celebrated a birthday, lots of people sent their congrats. How old is he now?

With nearly a million followers on social media, Derick constantly increases his following. In fact, a lot of people find him refreshing. If you are looking for shallow platitudes, you won’t find them on his pages. Actually, he was the first Duggar family member to openly accuse Jim Bob of exploiting his kids for the show. Additionally, he didn’t hold back when his father-in-law decided to run for office in Arkansas earlier this year. Openly, he described him as “being a sellout to anything he can personally profit from.”

In February, when Counting On alum Jill Dillard lost the lawsuit against the office that released the records about the Duggar girls that Josh molested, she spoke highly of Derick. She told her fans on her blog, “Essentially, all those years of mental torment got swept under the rug to protect an employee.” Jill said that “it is what compelled Derick to change careers and pursue law school in the first place.” Naturally, it’s easy to admire a man who stands for the victim.

Taking to her Instagram on March 9, Jill shouted out Derick Dillard. In her caption, she said, “Happy birthday to my favorite person @derickdillard ?. Then she added, “?ILYSM babe! Thanks for being my rock and encourager! Hope this next year is your best yet!” High praise came from Monique Serra, the pro-photographer of Jill’s choice. She wrote, “Happy birthday, Derick! You’re such an encouraging friend, the best dad, and you love and treat Jill like the queen she is! I hope you have the best day!!!”

How old is the Counting On alum now? Well, he was born in 1989 so he’s just turned 33 years old. Derick’s mom and dad seem like nice people, and his dad Rick was a police officer. So, it’s interesting that Derick is also following a career in law these days. Studying at the University of Arkansas, fans first met him as a missionary in Nepal. However, he obtained a degree in Business Administration and Accounting before changing direction to study law.

Counting On – Jill And Derick Duggar Expect A Third Child

Counting On alum Derick Dillard didn’t set about breeding a lot of kids, which is what his father-in-law would prefer. Instead, they raise two boys, Sam and Israel. Although Jill lost a baby last year, she now expects her rainbow child. TLC fans are thrilled for them, and they love that Derick seems like such a good dad and loving husband.
