The dramatic federal trial of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley is evolving into a reality TV show or soap opera, in its own right, with all the drama and intrigue we could hope for. Continue reading and we’ll give you the low down.
On Monday, a former employee of Todd Chrisley, Mark Braddock, testified in federal court that he and the Chrisley Knows Best veteran had become close in the early aughts, per Movie Web. Braddock said that, after he began working for Chrisley, he and the entrepreneur developed a “relationship of an intimate nature,” which began in 2003.
Todd and Julie Chrisley have been in federal court fighting bank and wire fraud charges for going on two weeks now. Following his termination in 2012, Braddock went to the FBI and informed them that he had committed financial crimes at Todd Chrisley’s behest.
Braddock was reportedly granted immunity from prosecution in exchange for his cooperation in the case. However, according to Movie Web, the agreement does not protect Braddock from prosecution for separate charges by other federal attorney’s offices or state governments.
Asked on Monday if he was aware that he could face perjury charges if he lied to the jury, Braddock responded affirmatively, saying, “there is no doubt in my mind.”
According to Insider, Braddock testified that he had met Chrisley at a school function, for their respective children, in the early 00s. He added that when they ended up living in the same neighborhood two years later, they became friends.
Braddock testified that the company, Todd Chrisley’s Asset Management Company (CAM), he worked for, managed, and sold foreclosed properties. He added that he had helped the company to grow from one of two employees to one of 60.
Braddock said that, after Chrisley has sold the company, in 2005, he quickly blew $3.5 million of the proceeds buying luxury cars, designer clothes, and more.
Braddock also reportedly testified that he had personally used Microsoft Word to create fake documents that falsely inflated the Chrisley’s income to make them appear wealthier than they actually were so that he could then acquire loans on their behalf.
When asked about why he would do such a thing for Chrisley that’s when he intimated, “I was complicit in giving him what he needed. We had a personal relationship of an intimate nature. I would do whatever he needed to get done.” Be sure and keep up to date on the Chrisley trial and return here often for more spoilers, news, and updates.
