A source close to the family says that guilt combined with the media frenzy and protestors as well as threats that his mother could go to jail pushed him over the edge. The source told The Sun they were sure that Brian considered every option. “I’m sure he promised his parents he would wait until they issue an arrest warrant and then turn himself in and fight the case. But that whole day was awful.”
The source revealed. This occurred that same day that Brian told his parents he was going for a walk in the Carlton Reserve behind his parents’ North Port, Florida home. This was the last time that Brian was seen alive. Brian became very concerned when his lawyer, Steven Bertolino, told them that Brian’s mom could be arrested as well. The source says this was when Brian left against his father’s pleas.
Authorities searched for weeks for Laundrie even checking out leads on the Appalachian Trail. The area where Laundrie’s body was searched as well but no body was found at that time. Brian’s parents joined the search after the reserve reopened following severe flooding. Brian’s father found his remains next to a notebook and a backpack in the reserve. Brian left a note claiming responsibility for Gabby’s death in that notebook. The source believes that Brian had his mind made up when he left that house and followed through with committing suicide to protect his parents.
Gabby Petito’s parents, Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt have filed a civil lawsuit claiming that Laundrie’s parents knew what he had done and were planning to help him leave the country. “While Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt were desperately searching for information concerning their daughter, Christopher Laundrie and Roberta Laundrie were keeping the whereabouts of Brian Laundrie secret, and it is believed were making arrangements for him to leave the country,” the lawsuit said. Bertolino says that the lawsuit is baseless and claims that Laundrie’s were under no obligation to speak to anyone.
If the Laundrie’s believe they are going to expose themselves as responsible in any way, the lawsuit is expected to end very quickly. Will the Laundries take the blame for what their son did before taking his own life? Did Brian not go to his parent’s house and obtain the gun he used to kill himself? The lawsuit is set to hit the courts in June and only time will tell.
