Finn is recovering more day by day, even though he is still in rough shape; although he doesn’t know whether to believe Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) about the “spinal injury”. He tries to move different parts of his body to self-diagnose himself as best as he can when she’s not looking and he feels things he wouldn’t were he paralyzed. Finn has to get out of the makeshift hospital room and even though he realizes he needs hospital care, he needs to get word out that he’s alive first.
Finn needs to find some way to contact his wife, Steffy Forrrester Finnegan (Jacqueline Macinnes Wood) first of all, and he is not normally a manipulator. But he realizes he may have to be in order to escape, especially considering how manipulative Sheila is – like fighting fire with fire.
Finn considers that Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes) could be a possible ally and may be willing to help him escape; he looks like he’s being controlled and threatened by Sheila. Finn, of course has no idea that Mike has known and at times was obsessed with Sheila for over twenty years but he looks like he’s in over his head. He tries to get through to Mike and secure him as an ally, but he’s not successful, although Mike is clearly sympathetic. But perhaps the two of them together can get through to Sheila and convince her to do the right thing- Finn won’t out Mike as an accessory. Then, Finn’s attention turns to trying to find out what happened to his adoptive mother, Li.
Finn is a doctor, and realizes Sheila as a nurse, especially not having been actively working as one for years, could not possibly have been the only one caring for him. She just wouldn’t have the training necessary to even keep up with all the medical advances and new machines and monitors he’s been hooked up to. Finn realizes that his adoptive mother, Li must have been involved somehow and now he needs answers as to why she is not there.
Sheila flashed that death certificate by him so quickly that he could not see who signed it although it looked legitimate. Finn starts interrogating Sheila aggressively as to where Li is, and why she had to have Mike go get his medicine!
Sheila continues to change the subject as Finn presses her to tell him where Li is and if she was involved in his care. He also isn’t sure he can trust her about Steffy and his family, he wouldn’t be surprised if sick, psycho Sheila had killed all of them. He can’t understand where they all are and why he is here, although if they think he’s dead that does make sense. Sheila finally breaks down and tells him what happened to Li and that she died in a fiery car crash going off into the ocean. Finn agrees from the way Sheila describes the accident that Li could not have survived and he’s devastated – and puts his grief into a plan to escape.
