But both ladies decided to bury the soapy hatchet. While they still love Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), Brooke and Taylor no longer plan to adore him.
Brooke and Eric Forrester (John McCook) are the ultimate legacy characters on this show. But other Hall of Fame personas exist on this soap, including Allen’s alter ego. If the ladies stick to their plan, they, their children, and Ridge should live better. But will each of Ridge’s greatest loves be able to maintain their stance?
Ridge let it sink in. He was not the decider. In a display of guts, Brooke and Taylor told Ridge that he was out.
There is no doubt that Ridge was playing each of his one-time wives off each other. He was keeping Taylor as a backup option, and she was okay with it. But Brooke allowed Ridge to keep her dangling for months while she waited for him to get over her perceived drama.
Ridge’s talk with Eric was meaningful. It underscored that Ridge has the opportunity to adjust his life which may not currently project to having a wife named Brooke or Taylor.
Brooke will forever consider Ridge to be her soul mate. But that does not mean she has to enable his manipulative and condescending behavior.
Lang’s character admitted to various wrongs through the years. She also repeatedly apologized for what was actually a minor indiscretion with Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) that did not involve any cavorting.
Brooke should hold steady and keep Ridge at arm’s length. His presence can overwhelm her. Both characters never established a mature relationship into their middle-aged years. That is something for both people to reflect on indefinitely.
Taylor has children and grandchildren. She is an accomplished psychiatrist. Ridge is third on that list, at best.
Allen’s character was intent on not opening herself up. But Ridge had her convinced she was finally his forever focus.
The remarriage blew up, with Taylor behaving like their son, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson). Ridge shifted his disappointed gaze from Brooke to Taylor.
Taylor made the right choice in telling Ridge she had enough, not him. Hopefully, better days are ahead, and she retains her just-established bond with Brooke, who empathize better than anyone else in this soapy world.
