While at the 2022 iHeartRadio Awards, the singer and songwriter was asked who she thinks should play her in a movie about her life and successful career.
It only took a short pause for Lavigne to announce that she’s rooting for Kristen Stewart, 31, to portray her in a future biopic. “Like Kristen Stewart would be cool to play me in a film. She’s dope.”
Lavigne, 37, just released her latest album, “Love Sux”, which paid a heavy tribute to her pop-punk past. Shortly before the album’s release, she signed with Machine Gun Kelly’s record label. Her collaborators on the album include Machine Gun Kelly, Blackbear and Mark Hoppus of Blink-182.
“Love Sux”, which is Avril Lavigne’s seventh studio album, received three stars from NME, and was described as a “progressive pop-punk album that eschews the old rules – but not at the expense of maximalist, joyful guitar themes.”
This is coming after country legend Dolly Parton endorsed “Wicked” actress Kristin Chenoweth to play onscreen Dolly Parton. Although, for Parton, she’s thinking more of an extravagant Broadway musical.
“Spencer” offers an in-depth look into the weekend at Sandringham Castle when Princess Diana seemingly made the decision to leave Prince Charles and forsake her rights as a future Queen.
Kristen Stewart’s performance of the late princess was praised, with Diana’s former bodyguard saying that Stewart is the best onscreen Diana he’s ever seen.
Following her performance on “Spencer”, she was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars, which takes place on Sunday (March 27), alongside Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz.
NME’s five-star review reads: “Spencer won’t please staunch royalists, but [director Pablo] Larrain and Stewart have succeeded in presenting a fresh and perhaps enlightening impression of one of the 20th century’s most dissected figures.
“This Diana isn’t “England’s rose” or a “queen of hearts”, but a traumatised, cornered animal, desperately trying to claw her way out of a gilded cage.”
Stewart’s next project is horror film “Crimes of the Future” from director David Cronenberg.
