Fans are marking their calendars and looking forward to Boston 2022. The prestigious environmental prize will be hosted in Boston with the support of John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, Mayor Michelle Wu and the City of Boston. Fifteen finalists will be attending the awards night, where five will emerge as the winner.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge To Visit US For Earthshot’s Second Year

The royal couple will be traveling to Boston this December for the Earthshot Prize ceremony, which will see five ideas on cleaning up the planet get picked for the £1 million prize.

For the inaugural gala night in 2021, Prince William and Kate Middleton walked the green carpet in recycled clothes, alongside stars and global leaders including John Kerry and Emma Watson.

Before the awards night rounded up, an announcement was made revealing that the next Earthshot Prize ceremony will be taking place in the US. This is mainly attributed to the fact that the global climate prize was inspired by John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot project, which saw NASA send men to the moon for the very first time.

Earthshot Prize was created by Prince William and the Royal Foundation. William believes that there’s still chance we can clean up Earth’s air, lands and waters. His plan is to scale up the most brilliant ideas by funding them, in order to maximize their impact.

Earthshot Prize Announces Boston As the Host City As More Details Coming

Following the announcement that Boston will be the host city, mayor Michelle Wu shared that the city was “honored and excited” to host the awards. “In Boston, we’re not just aiming to improve Boston’s ability to tackle climate change—we’re setting an example for how imaginative, community-driven climate leadership can reshape what’s possible,” she said.

Boston was referred to as “one of the most innovative places on earth” to host the prestigious environmental awards.
