90 Day Fiancé: drama in the Potthast family

After filming season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?  Elizabeth Castravet, 32, (née Potthast) opened up in an interview about her family. She said:

It seems like the more successful you become, you really see people’s true colors that are surrounding you.

The interview, on September 1, included Elizabeth and her husband, Andrei Castravet and Libby opened up about herself and her family. She said she and her family “kind of go back and forth honestly, but it’s been not so great.”

Castravets vs Potthasts

90 Day Fiancé fans are well aware of the problems in Elizabeth and Andrei’s relationship since they first starred in season 5 of the TLC reality show. Right from the start, Andrei clashed with Libby’s family, especially her father, Chuck Potthast, over finances. Matters got worse when Andrei asked Chuck for a $100,000 loan to start his own house-flipping business. Meanwhile, Chuck refused and instead hired Elizabeth’s husband as an employee of the family’s property management business.

Elizabeth and Andrei were married, and went on to star in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? However, on that spinoff show, the Moldovan constantly clashed with Elizabeth’s siblings. Fans will no doubt remember the brawl between the family in the season 6 finale. Fast-forward to now, and their problems apparently haven’t been resolved.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Libby said, “Let’s just say I’m getting older. I’m more mature,” adding:

I have my own family and I see things through a different lens now than I used to when I was younger. And so I’m learning more about my family and who’s around me and I just see it differently.

Andrei then spoke up, saying he could “take credit” for Elizabeth’s change of perspective. He said he opened her eyes more, adding that she knew there was something. Andrei added he did more for her by making her understand where the negative comes from.

Meanwhile, the TLC reality couple is starring in the latest season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? According to Andrei, there will be lots of reveals concerning family members in the new season. He added:

It took some time to realize what kind of people we were dealing with. It’s gonna [sic] be intense once again. It’s very hard for me because I see her, it hurts her.

Cultural differences on 90 Day Fiancé

Meanwhile, Libby, who is pregnant with their second child, spoke about the cultural differences between herself and Andrei’s family. She noted that Americans can be “very forgiving.” However, his family tends to be more “cutthroat” in handling conflicts.

For his part, the Moldovan native said yes, but that means she doesn’t have to deal with constant problems and constant friction if it isn’t needed. However, Elizabeth responded by saying it is hard when it’s family, but she did agree.

Fans can watch 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After on Sundays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
