90 Day Fiancé star Ben Rathbun has been a controversial cast member in the latest season of Before the 90 Days. First, he traveled to Peru to be with Mahogany Roca, even though she told him not to. However, news about his arrest has brought him back into the headlines. At first, fans heard that Ben had lost his job due to him being arrested. However, Rathbun has now opened up to give details of his original OWI arrest and a more recent arrest for probation violation.
In an interview with In Touch, Ben Rathbun explained that the whole arrest story started when he went to help a couple living at a Red Roof Inn. He said it was in September 2020 when he visited the homeless couple and when they offered him a little plastic cup of wine, he “stupidly” accepted.
When he left the couple, Rathbun felt so tired that he stopped at a hotel for the night and then totally lost the next 24 hours. He said that, apparently, the couple had spiked his drink. Meanwhile, the following morning, he tried to drive home, but hit the curb, disabling his car. Ben said the police did a breathalyzer and found no alcohol. However, they later did a blood draw at the police station and found Flubromazolam in his system. For those who don’t know, Flubromazolam is described online as a drug used to treat panic disorders, anxiety and insomnia.
After the arrest, Ben was fined and given 18 months probation. He also had to complete community service, counseling, and educational courses, while also submitting to random drug tests. However, this wasn’t the last time the TLC reality star had legal problems.
Following the 2020 incident at the Red Roof Inn, Rathbun violated his probation, leading to a more recent arrest. During his interview, Ben then opened up about what had happened with the second violation, which led to him losing his job with the Michigan Lupus Foundation.
As he met all the requirements and never did have a positive test, the court allowed him to move to another state. However, they mailed a summons to the wrong address. Ben said it was his fault, as he needed to ensure he was getting all the notices. However, by the time he found out, it was too late and he missed his appointment. This led to a warrant being issued for Ben’s arrest. After this, Rathbun “immediately drove 14 hours” and turned himself into the court, leading to a night behind bars.
Now that the 90 Day Fiancé star has shared his side of the arrest story, fans want to see what will happen with his relationship with Mahogany. So far, it isn’t clear if the couple is engaged or not. Meanwhile, someone claimed online to have recently seen him with Mahogany in Peru. Maybe we will find out more in the final episode, or the series Tell-All, part one of which also airs on Sunday.
