When Mohamed told his mother that Yve’s views were not like his and her friends were inappropriate, she told him that it is not his job to control what Yve does. She mentions that he is in another country and he needs to understand that he cannot force his religion and culture on her. She told him that he needs to accept the cultural differences and not try to “impose our traditions on her.”
His mother tells him, “You have to adapt yourself to the new environment that you’re in. Let her do what she wants, one by one she will understand the satiation. Just don’t try to control her and try to adjust yourself in a nice way without getting grumpy.”
When Mohamed’s mother told him her advice, he immediately felt that she was taking Yve’s side. He really didn’t expect this from her and he doesn’t agree with her advice. Her advice does matter to him more than anyone else’s, but he isn’t sure that he wants to go along with her advice. He knows that Yve is set in her ways, but he does want to change some things about her.
Will Mohamed learn to accept the fact that Yve isn’t changing her ways for him? He tells the cameras, “I am a man and I’m not gonna change. But I’m afraid if I don’t accept Yve for who she is she’s not gonna be happy with me. But what about my happiness to be comfortable in my life? So right now, I don’t know what to do.”
