While some 90 Day Fiancé fans congratulated Ben Rathbun and Mahogany Roca, others were shocked and skeptical.

90 Day Fiancé star Ben Rathbun has shocked fans by publishing a video on YouTube, revealing his engagement to Mahogany Roca. Ben, 52, and Mahogany, 22, are making their relationship official, but many are skeptical about the relationship. Comments on the YouTube video drew congratulations, but also plenty of criticism.

90 Day Fiancé fans will recall Ben Rathbun and Mahogany Roca from season 5 of Before the 90 Days. Mahogany came across photos of Ben, a fitness model, online and sent him a friend request. However, while Ben revealed his love for the Peruvian beauty, she was hesitant to trust a man she met online.

Three months after they started their online relationship, Ben decided he wanted to marry Mahogany, despite not yet meeting her in person. However, he had also never spoken to Roca, either on the phone or by video call. Meanwhile, when Ben decided to fly to Lima to meet Mahogany in person, she refused to meet him. Immediately, fans starting believing she was catfishing Ben.

When they did finally meet on 90 Day Fiancé, it turned out Mahogany had been lying to Ben about her age and her address. In fact, episodes revealed that she looked nothing like the woman in her photos. Meanwhile, after fans uncovered proof that Mahogany was an actor, some believed the couple’s story on the TLC reality show was scripted. At that stage, she was in no hurry to meet the older American man. However, they did apparently meet again without the benefit of the TLC cameras.

On the Tell-all for season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Ben and Mahogany’s relationship was a mystery. However, the couple launched a joint YouTube channel in May to reveal they were still together.

Ben and Mahogany are engaged

Meanwhile, the couple’s latest video reveals that not only are they still together, but they are now engaged. In the video, we see Ben walking on a beach in Lima, telling fans he had discussed a future with Mahogany. However, he does admit it will be a “really hard, hard journey,” as people wouldn’t understand their love.

We then see Ben in a jewelry shop, purchasing an expensive, 18-carat white gold engagement ring for Mahogany. According to the salesperson, the ring was from Paris, which led Ben to say he is in love with the ring, just like he is in love with Mahogany. Rathbun says no one believed in his relationship with Mahogany, but he is now going to make her his wife.

A scene change sees the 90 Day Fiancé stars in La Milonga del SanTito, the restaurant featured on the TLC reality show where he finally met her in person. He then proposes to Mahogany and she said “yes!” Ben then revealed that he had the blessing of her father (who is probably the same age as him) to their union.

Ben adds the words, “She’s off the market, everybody,” and Mahogany proudly displays her ring for the camera. Rathbun then launches a slideshow of himself and Mahogany on various dates.

Fans doubted Ben and Mahogany’s journey on 90 Day Fiancé, but it is now looking like they are the real deal. As we know, TLC loves a good storyline, so they may have deliberately given them a catfishing storyline. Meanwhile, it looks like Ben and Mahogany will be making a comeback to reality TV soon. They were reportedly spotted filming in Peru at the end of July. There is every likelihood that the spring/autumn relationship could feature on 90 Day Fiancé season 10.

Some fans are skeptical about the relationship

While it may look like Ben and Mahogany are truly in love, fans revealed their skepticism in the comments section of the YouTube video. One wrote, “Of course, they’re engaged! How else can they continue to be on the show?” Another skeptic wrote:

Last I knew mahogany couldn’t stand the sight of Ben and cringed to his touch, walked away from him in complete disgust and now for the sake of hoping for fans, followers, and likes they are engaged and very much In love.

Some even doubted the reality of Mahogany’s father, writing, “Did you meet her real parents or visit her real apartment yet? Lolol.” Yet another wrote, “So fake to keep relevant.” Further down, a fan wrote, “This can’t be real. Why?” while yet another fan simply commented, “Why?”
